Yotrio is a global corporation that designs and produces outdoor furniture sold at stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Target, and Walmart, often under their private labels. As the largest outdoor furniture supplier to the North American market, Yotrio operates their own factories. During my four months as an intern at Yotrio, I gained valuable insight into the production side of the business, mostly contributing to the development of products specifically designed for Home Depot US. This experience allowed me to bridge design concepts with practical manufacturing considerations.

REDESIGN Glenridge Falls 7-Piece Metal Outdoor Dining Set

Home Depot was looking to refresh the transitional 7-piece metal rectangle outdoor dining set on their floor. The new set had to APPEAR MORE VALUABLE than the current offering while achieving a COMPETITIVE PRICE. In addition to this, the new table design had to appeal to Home Depots new expectations for easier knock down and toolless furniture.

Home Depot was looking to refresh their inexpensive transitional 4-piece wicker patio conversation set. This popular set sits on the floor of a significant portion of their stores. In order to take this slot from the competition, the proposed set had to APPEAR MORE VALUABLE than the current offering while achieving a MORE COMPETITIVE PRICE and SMALL SHIPPING SIZE.

The new set had to APPEAR MORE VALUABLE than the current offering while achieving a MORE COMPETITIVE PRICE. In addition to this, the new design had to appeal to Home Depots new expectations for easier knock down furniture.

3d modeling ITERATION

Material and manufacturing cost can be lowered by ALTERING THE OTTOMAN AND SIDE TABLE design. Also, the addition of HORIZONTAL ROPE will give the seat back more structure.

Including a CUSHION ON THE OTTOMAN adds value and better equates the set to the existing one. Additionally, color, material, and finish should be altered to suit current trends.
